Position Overview

Frequent travel within the region and to neighboring countries is a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

Dual reporting to the Regional Business Head and the Chief Regulatory and Government Relations Officer
Worked closely with Business Development, Merchant Sales and Solutions, Risk, Compliance, Client Services, Corporate Social Impact, Legal, Marketing, Strategy, and Product groups as well as colleagues at the national, group, and international levels.
Closely collaborates with functional colleagues in the area and globally to establish and improve best practices.
Functions as a subject matter expert on regulatory concerns and government relations for cross-divisional business teams.
Create and put into action a successful government relations plan for the area of responsibility.
Lead the development and building of stakeholder relationships with Government regulators, businesses, and non-governmental organizations at all levels.
Ensure that Government Relations plans are aligned with Flutterwave’s strategic business objectives
Establish and maintain effective long-term relations with Governments and other external stakeholders at the appropriate levels.
Timely intervene and defend Flutterwave’s economic interests, monitor the regulatory and policy management environment in various geographic markets.
Identify opportunities and support business development programs and initiatives.
Manage day-to-day Government Relations operations and represent Flutterwave at relevant forums.
Ensure optimization of meeting targets and Government Relations objectives by introducing best practices.
Build and maintain internal relationships and enhance an understanding of the function within the company.

Qualification

General understanding of the functioning of the electronic payments industry.
Minimum of 5-7 years of expertise in all facets of creating and putting into practice stakeholder relations strategies, with a track record of success.
In-depth knowledge of the local business and political environments of the country
Political acumen, and the ability to balance commercial interests and social benefits.
Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Budgeting and financial management.
Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work long hours.
A driven self-starter with the capacity to work unsupervised every day, in a team, and independently.
A versatile team player with computer literacy who can operate across several Flutterwave roles.
Fluency in English
