What You’ll Do For Us

As Consultants, your pivotal responsibility will encompass discerning and addressing pivotal obstacles and deficiencies related to the voter registration of women. Your primary objective will be to formulate comprehensive solutions aimed at catalyzing systemic transformations, thus amplifying the levels of women’s voter registration. This mission is concentrated exclusively within the dynamic landscape of Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Obligations

Gather and consolidate prevailing legal statutes and regulatory frameworks concerning voter registration.
Perform a meticulous analysis of existing voter registration laws, regulations, and the Voter Registration tool inquiries. Systematically input relevant information into the designated tool, tailored for Kogi/Bayelsa States.
Skillfully operationalize a Voter Registration Diagnostic Tool to detect impediments in women’s voter registration. Acquire essential data to facilitate situational assessments, monitor advancements in gender parity, and diminish hindrances.
Conduct an in-depth secondary examination of existing Kogi/Bayelsa State data to pinpoint factors influencing women’s voter registration.
Employ Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions to procure primary data. Engage with influential women and community representatives to enrich secondary data insights, providing indispensable contextual perspectives.
Craft a comprehensive report encompassing research inquiries, desk review insights, methodological approach, presentation and thorough analysis of outcomes derived from both primary and secondary data scrutiny. Conclude with actionable recommendations tailored to Kogi/Bayelsa States.
Formulate succinct research and advocacy briefs, stratified by geographical segments within Kogi/Bayelsa states. These briefs serve as potent tools for engaging governmental bodies and development partners, fostering targeted intervention strategies.
Develop a concise roadmap outlining prioritized action points.

Deliverables

Prepare a comprehensive inception report detailing the project’s objectives, methodologies, and a meticulously planned work schedule, incorporating a clear timeline for each stage.
Obtain endorsement for the meticulously crafted inception workplan, showcasing a well-structured outline of project milestones and activities.
Undertake an exhaustive desk review encompassing prevailing legal frameworks and regulations pertinent to women’s voter registration, along with a meticulous review of contemporary grey literature within Kogi/Bayelsa States.
Secure validation for the meticulously compiled desk review report, exhibiting a deep exploration of existing laws, regulations, and insightful grey literature within the defined region.
Formulate an adeptly crafted consent form to be employed during Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussions, ensuring ethical considerations and participant rights.
Identify and assemble relevant data sources that spotlight residual impediments concerning women’s voter registration, subsequently to be integrated into the final research dossier.
Synthesize a refined research report, culminating the desk review, methodological insights, and a comprehensive analysis of primary and secondary data. This culminating document will encompass conclusive results, comprehensive discussions, and pragmatic recommendations tailored for Kogi/Bayelsa States.
Conclude the consultancy engagement with a comprehensive end-of-contract report, encapsulating the project’s journey, accomplishments, challenges, and potential future pathways.
Attain authorization for the carefully drafted participant consent form, which shall reflect a nuanced understanding of ethical procedures and information-sharing protocols.
Execute visual documentation, comprising photographs, along with audio recordings and transcriptions, chronicling Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussions in both states, thereby enriching the research experience.

Qualification

Educational

A master’s degree or equivalent in Governance and Gender, Social Policy, Social Science, Development Studies or a related field.

Additional Requirements

Minimum 7 years experience in governance and gender research, showcasing proficiency in quantitative and qualitative methods within developmental contexts, highlighting expertise in gender analysis.
Proficient in state-specific knowledge and fluent in common/local language of research area.
Profound comprehension of engagements with state and non-state entities, spanning all levels, including international organizations.
Demonstrable track record of executing analogous assignments previously.
Availability within one week of consultancy offer.
Background in collaborating with international development entities, NGOs, or CSOs would offer a distinct advantage.
Extensive familiarity with Nigerian political terrain and recent electoral advancements.
Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills; mastery of local language considered a notable asset.
