Are you a journalist with a passion for music? Smooth FM is seeking a dynamic Reporter to join our team and bring melodies to life through compelling storytelling. As a Reporter at Smooth FM, you’ll be the frontline ambassador of musical experiences, translating beats into evocative narratives that resonate with our diverse audience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor both local and global trends and occurrences
- Gather, validate, and meticulously analyze noteworthy data
- Construct coherent narratives from collected information
- Craft news pieces, prioritizing reader engagement
- Publish news articles effectively
- Pursue assignments and explore leads/tips for news coverage
- Conduct interviews, research, and communication with sources
- Document and archive notes and audio records
- Collaborate with reporters, chief editor, and producers
- Maintain updated awareness of current global/Nigeria news via reputable sources, interviews, and schedules
- Source and study foundational materials
- Compose and practice scripts for news presentation
- Finalize news content, adhering to stringent deadlines
- Uphold the principles and codes of journalism ethics
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities assigned during employment.
Key Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a B.Sc. degree in journalism or mass communications
- Possess at least 2 years of reporter experience
- Proficient in computer tools like MS Office, digital editing, web search, databases
- Demonstrate strong communication, advocacy, and attentive listening abilities
- Exemplify integrity and ethical conduct
- Showcase a portfolio of published articles or newscasts
- Skilled in news gathering, writing, and editing
- Age limit should be below 25 years
- Possess extensive knowledge of headline trends
