Job Location:  Nairobi, Kenya

Employment Type: Full-time

This position is located in Nairobi, Kenya, at Visa’s Innovation Studio, where we collaborate with Visa clients from all around Sub-Saharan Africa to develop cutting-edge payment products and experiences and address specific client needs.

Job Description

To join our Innovation & Design team, Visa is seeking a creative UI/UX Product Designer. Join a creative team that develops innovative ideas, takes the lead in partnerships with Visa partners, and works with cutting-edge technologies like the Internet of Things and card-less transactions.

The designer will be involved in projects for product development that involve conception, iteration, and testing. Projects are developed using factors affecting how clients earn, spend, and save. This position will also aid in the advancement of Visa’s worldwide new product strategy through practical discovery and development.

You’ll apply user-centered design principles and work directly with stakeholders to imagine and create gorgeous, useful, and appealing product interfaces. You’ll collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and take part in the first stages of research and brainstorming as part of the development process. You are an expert UX designer who is familiar with a variety of digital platforms.

This role includes a significant amount of fantastic UI creation. This entails producing both quick UI prototypes and results that are pixel-perfect. This calls for a thorough understanding and awareness of how a beautiful visual can influence user behavior and digital interactions, as well as a passion for UI design.

Every design choice our team members make is based on thoughtful consideration and conceptual problem solving. Each team member is trusted to freely manage their workload and time as well as to take risks and act in accordance with their best judgment. We place more weight on demonstrated abilities than huge egos and thrive on constructive, open teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Design pleasant, engaging experiences for mobile, desktop, and device-specific platforms.
  • Create visual designs, style guidelines, and pattern libraries, as well as wireframes.
  • Create functional UI prototypes that showcase the next shopping experiences (InVision, Figma or other similar product knowledge is a plus). This is a crucial aspect of my job as the studio’s lone UI designer in Nairobi.
  • Be at ease and flexible enough to switch between producing quick prototypes and pixel-perfect products. For instance, on one project, create UI prototypes quickly for customer iterations, and on another, hold final products to the highest UX and UI design standards.
  • Create a top-notch user experience program that caters to the requirements of the Visa digital solutions team and its products.
  • Design concepts should be presented to senior leadership and outside partners.
  • Assemble and take into account the needs and suggestions of many stakeholders.
  • Recognize and promote the consumer’s experience
  • Encourage close and fruitful communication between our customers, product managers, engineers, and marketers. Effective teamwork is essential for success in the position.
  • Facilitate breakout sessions for brainstorming and user journey building as requested
  • Create the supporting documentation needed to support a successful User Experience team and delight our clients.
Qualification
  • 5+ years in related professional work
  • Experience in consumer payment, e-commerce is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in computer and mobile platforms (Apple and Android)
  • Passionate & practical about creating great user experiences to the point of obsession
  • Experience designing world class user interfaces for the web and mobile
  • Knowledge of visual, UI and interaction design principles with an eye for details and consistency
  • Passionate about new web technologies and web techniques to help you build next gen user experiences
  • Product Management expertise and an understanding of the agile process
  • Be able to defend your ideas and offer a convincing argument for your choice.
  • Create standards for the team’s tools and establish yourself as an expert in their use.
  • Demonstrated independence, direction-giving skills, and wisdom to help others achieve their goals.
  • Excellent communication skills in both writing and spoken
  • B.S./B.A. degree or other pertinent design credentials
