Who Are We Looking For?

As the Design Manager for Canonical, you’ll spearhead a pivotal role in democratizing open source software globally. Our Design function stands as the guardian of user experience alignment with our vision, and you, as the Design Manager, will wield profound leadership, not just within our teams, but in the larger scope as well.

At the helm of the Brand & Marketing Design team, you’ll embrace the mantle of refining how the Canonical and Ubuntu brands are articulated. Additionally, you’ll orchestrate the dynamics of product content operations, particularly amplifying our impact on web touchpoints.

Core Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the quality of design team’s work through meticulous reviews
  • Nurturing the professional development of individual designers
  • Enhancing operational workflows, encompassing production outsourcing and collaboration with Web Engineering
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, especially Marketing and Head of Brand, to precisely define and verify objectives
  • Advancing design systems and guidelines to enhance uniform quality and operational efficiency
  • Orchestrating with other design leaders to advance our shared methodology
  • Fostering collaboration and cultural cohesion by facilitating sharing of work among teams
  • Participating in the open-source community to both learn and amplify the value of our contributions
Qualification
  • Impressive UI design portfolio showcasing strong visual aesthetics
  • Outstanding academic accomplishments in design or relevant behavioral science field
  • Comprehensive expertise across user-centric process, from needs identification to successful execution

  • Dedicated to transparent project execution and accountable for team timelines
  • Proficient in leading teams interfacing with technical stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable about quantitative optimization methodologies
  • Enthusiastic about harmonizing consistency and groundbreaking creativity
  • Ready to travel up to 4 times annually for internal events
