Who Are We Looking For?
As the Sanitation/Hygiene Coordinator, you will be responsible for working with the Head of Programme to support national level engagement, ensure WaterAid is networked in the appropriate places to affect systemic change, and provide technical and administrative support to the Programmes department on sanitation/ hygiene across projects and programmes.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Head of Programme, ensuring that all WASH projects and activities are delivered to a high standard.
- Aid Project Leads in achieving WASH program/project goals.
- Attend national meetings for NAP, NTGS, and CNC as a representative of WANG.
- Develop appropriate activities and events to celebrate global days like handwashing days, world water day etc.
- Provide educational materials on sanitation and hygiene
- Participate productively in knowledge-sharing platforms, and engage in system-strengthening activities for better sanitation and hygiene.
- Deliver country program fundraising initiatives/projects in collaboration with the fundraising team as needed.
- Develop the L3 budget for the programs department’s activities centered on sanitation and hygiene.
- Encourage the implementation of context-specific, inclusive, and gender-differentiated sanitation facility solutions that address institutional gaps in public spaces.
- Ensure sanitation facilities are hygienically and technically safe to use, inclusive of all genders.
- Involve national stakeholders to promote the integration of hygiene and sanitation practices with efforts on health, nutrition, and education.
- Encourage stakeholder involvement that takes sanitation service chains into account to open doors and spur development in the sanitation sub-sector.
Qualification
- A university degree in environmental/public health, the social sciences, development studies, or a closely connected discipline is required.
- A track record of directing and delivering strategic priorities while working with high level stakeholders (government/development agencies).
- Experience in enhancing the capabilities of implementing partners, particularly CSOs and the government
Additional Requirements
- A master’s degree in public health, education, and awareness would also be advantageous, as would a degree in project management, sociology, public policy, international development, or political science.
