Job Description Summary:

What You’ll Do for Us

The Lead Product Services Engineer – Gas Turbine Controls & Operability position provides the GE Gas Power fleet with technical assistance across the entire product life cycle, giving the possibility for direct customer impact. Working with numerous cross-functional teams, this role will be responsible for providing world-class problem solving for control systems, HMIs, networking, and cyber security. It will also entail developing creative, durable, and affordable solutions to ensure that equipment operates safely and reliably while satisfying customer and organizational needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Possess the technical expertise to resolve complicated controls and operability problems with gas turbines, such as those involving turbine startup, trips, grid response, model-based controls, and generator control interfaces, among others.
  • Conversant with Mark VI/VIe Gas Turbine Generator control algorithms
  • Serve as a conduit and aggressively promote cross-functional communication between engineering teams, design teams, commercial teams, manufacturing, and suppliers to create and implement technological solutions to satisfy client needs.
  • Manage cross-functional teams in execution of root cause investigations of GE equipment non-conformances.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on critical issues for new unit installation / startup, outage work activities, in service unplanned disruptions (i.e. alarms, trips, runbacks, etc.), and customer issue resolution while meeting critical business metrics on quality and timeliness.
  • Writing, coaching, and mentoring people in the creation of internal and external communications to offer advice on resolving key issues
  • Participate in coordinating and presenting at global technical conferences, webinars, and other customer facing events.
  • Enhance team productivity and foster a culture of continuous improvement by making continual improvements to our working procedures. We also provide feedback on fleet and product issues to design engineering teams and the NPI process in order to increase reliability, spot new opportunities, and spur the creation of useful products.

Requirements:

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and/or Electrical/Electronics/ Controls Systems/ Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum of 6 years engineering experience working with GE turbine control applied on heavy duty gas turbine E, F, HA frames.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
  • Experience and propensity for 15% last-minute domestic and international travels.

Additional Qualification

  • Prior knowledge in working with consumers or interacting with them
  • Experience executing Six Sigma DMAIC, TOPS 8D, or other root cause techniques
  • Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work of cross-functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests and requirements clearly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Can inspire teams through inclusion and human connection.
