Leeds University Business School Scholarship Program Details:
The Accounting and Finance Department is offering four fully funded scholarship opportunities for the 2023-2024 academic year. We welcome applications from outstanding individuals who are highly motivated, self-directed, and passionate about research.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
The competition is open to all individuals, regardless of their nationality, including UK citizens. Four scholarships will be awarded, and both local and international applicants are welcome to participate.
Value and Duration of Award
The Scholarship for University of Leeds covers the complete standard tuition fees and offers extra funds. In addition, it provides a maintenance allowance at the UKRI rate of £17,668 for the 2022-2023 session. The award spans three and a half years on a full-time basis, with the initial one-year award being extendable up to an additional two and a half years contingent upon satisfactory academic progress.
Discretionary reservations
The award may not also consider certain applications or decline awardees following specific considerations:
- Applicants who already possess a doctoral degree or are currently pursuing one cannot apply.
- Awardees must accept the grant before October 1st, 2023.
- Only new Postgraduate Researchers undertaking full- or part-time PhD studies are eligible for the grant. Students who have already enrolled in a PhD research program are ineligible to apply.
- During the scholarship period, recipients must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the University of Leeds.
Eligibility Criteria:
Our program seeks Scholars from diverse backgrounds, each with their own unique contributions. When selecting candidates, we consider the following:
- Ideally, candidates will have a first-class undergraduate degree, or at least a respectable upper second-class degree.
- Candidates should hold a British Master’s degree (or equivalent from a foreign institution) or a comparable professional qualification in a relevant academic field.
- For research degree programs, non-native English speakers must pass an approved English language test. Approved tests and their minimum scores include:
- Academic IELTS: a minimum of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each section.
- TOEFL iBT: an overall score of 100 with a minimum score of 23 in speaking, 21 in listening, 21 in reading, and 22 in writing. Test results are valid for two years.
How to Apply :
Stage 1: First apply for a research place of study by completing a study application form. You will be expected to meet our eligibility criteria for PhD candidates, including the English language requirements if your first language is not English.
Stage 2: Applicants must appear for two interviews and be evaluated by at least four members of the academic staff before being given a scholarship. At least two of the CASIF directors are included in the initial round of interviews. Members of the supervisory team conduct the second round of interviews if it is decided that the candidate should advance.
Before the application deadline, exceptional candidates may be given an Accounting and Finance Department Scholarship.
