Position Overview
As Government Relations Manager, you will ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in relation to government relations and engagement by offering excellent government relations strategy, advice, and engagement to support the achievement of the goals of the Corporation and the Kimberly-Clark Consumer organization in Nigeria and East Africa.
Responsibilities
- Developing MEA, the Business Development Director, the General Manager of Nigeria, and other senior managers all regard you as a reliable business partner.
- To create and carry out a government relations strategy with set goals for the area
- To actively lobby politicians and representatives of the government on the company’s behalf at all levels, up to and including the Ministerial level, in order to produce favorable changes to government regulations that affect the business
- To speak on behalf of the business at gatherings and functions attended by ministerial-level politicians and other representatives of the government
- Must closely collaborate with general managers and other functional leaders to gather the data and promises from the company needed to achieve the desired results.
- Develop Kimberly-profile Clark’s in the area by engaging with a variety of external stakeholders (politics, government, inward investment, embassies, trade groups).
- To keep track of political, judicial, and policy events that affect Kimberly-operations Clark’s (notably inward investment, tax and trade incentives, trade and customs, and environment policies )
- To develop a larger network of solid connections, for instance, by actively interacting with elected officials and members of the media at all levels and representing K-C in regional trade and issue associations.
- Maintain communication with various regulatory, legal, and associated internal, external, and business contracting partners.
Qualification
- Working knowledge of tax, energy, transportation, environment, trade, and employment/labor policies.
- A bachelor’s degree and strong academic qualifications. Although not necessary, a suitable graduate degree or law degree is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- 7 years or more of experience working in government relations. Although not necessary, corporate experience is preferred.
