What You’ll Do For Us

You will be in charge of the legal operations of the corporation in a certain area, as well as any business divisions or sub-functions that operate on a national or international scale. As legal counsel, you will assess business needs, create and implement our legal strategy using the service delivery paradigm to support commercial and corporate activities. You provide risk advice to the company by foreseeing and resolving internal and external causes.

The position is commercially oriented, with a focus on contract development and review, deal negotiating, and dispute resolution. Work on supply chain, corporate governance & compliance, intellectual property, consumer protection, labor, and conflict management is also included. The chosen applicant will serve as a reliable legal counsel for the entire company.

Responsibilities
  • Support Chief Counsel in managing and providing advice on legal and regulatory matters pertaining to Mondelez’s operations in West Africa.
  • Providing legal secretarial support to the specified West African Markets’ legal entities
  • Logging, tracking, and monitoring Contracts: Drafting, negotiating, revising, and analyzing contracts to safeguard the company’s interests
  • Assist the Chief Counsel in developing and maintaining relationships with outside counsel, taking into account the administration of legal cases, billing practices, standards of service, and adherence to MDLZ outside counsel procedure & policy.
  • Accountable for ensuring that the business complies with required regulatory submissions on a regular basis.
  • Conduct training on relevant laws, regulations, and/or compliance issues and keep a training calendar.
  • To ensure that the business complies with the law, keep the business informed of any applicable laws and any changes to those laws.
  • Establishing trusting connections while collaborating, negotiating, and communicating with other parties (regulators, outside counsel, public authorities, etc.)
  • Investigate and assess various risks that may affect corporate operations and choices.
  • Utilize efficient risk management strategies and provide prompt guidance on potential legal risks or difficulties.
  • Give knowledgeable and prompt advice on a range of legal issues (labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance, etc.)
  • Work together with management to develop effective defense plans.
  • Deliver assistance with legal office administration
Qualification
  • LLB Qualification and Bar Admission (BL). LLM will be beneficial.
  • 10-15 years of minimum post-admission professional corporate commercial experience (either as in- house Legal Counsel or in a Legal Firm)
  • Corporate governance and compliance experience that has been proven.
  • Experience in company secretarial functions will be helpful.
  • Demonstrated abilities in stakeholder management and persuasion
