Job Description

Reporting to the PEARL Unit Manager, the Database Officer/Specialist plays a pivotal role in curating FACT’s analytical products. This role encompasses formulating research frameworks, collaborating on sampling methodologies, devising data analysis strategies, creating efficient data refinement code and protocols, generating analysis scripts, producing insightful outcomes, and where applicable, crafting interactive web maps and streamlined information management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Manage PEARL database and oversee data analysis processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products meeting community needs.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing effective data management solutions aligned with FACT’s research and data guidelines.
  • Assist in designing and managing data collection tools, training on data techniques, and setting up data analysis in the R environment.
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative data tools in line with research cycle requirements.
  • Collaborate with assessment and GIS officers to establish quantitative samples.
  • Monitor and report progress, delays, and issues during the research cycle.
  • Supervise data collection, including cleaning processes and script development.
  • Document changes in data collection affecting TORs, ensuring coordination and agreement.
  • Ensure collected data accuracy with FACT’s Data Cleaning Minimum Standards Checklist.
  • Validate and update field data, resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain and enhance R-based data management and analysis systems.
  • Lead statistical analysis and quantitative reporting for assessments.
  • Ensure FACT analysis products meet organizational and partner requirements.
  • Accurately report findings based on planned methodology in TORs.
  • Support online product maintenance and updates in collaboration with FACT.
  • Ensure project compliance with cycle management requirements and guidelines.
  • Contribute to lessons learned exercises and provide content.
  • Consult partners during various research stages and attend relevant meetings.
  • Promote partner use of datasets for decision-making when directed.
  • Uphold FACT’s image, ethics, and values in interactions with other stakeholders.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic background in a relevant field, encompassing disciplines such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Political Science, Social Research, Economics, or Development Studies.

Communication Skills:

  • Proficient communication and drafting skills essential for producing impactful and comprehensive report writing.

Data Expertise:

  • Profound familiarity and mastery in utilizing data collection and analysis tools, including but not limited to Kobo, NVivo, R, SPSS, and Power BI.

Statistical Proficiency:

  • Strong aptitude in statistical methodologies and analysis techniques, ensuring the ability to draw meaningful insights from data.

Multitasking Capability:

  • Comfort and proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously, providing support across various projects.

Software Proficiency:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, encompassing Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, as well as adeptness with Google suite applications.
