What You’ll Do For Us
The Officer, IT Operations post combines front-line support for our schools and support teams with outstanding customer service, as well as administration of one of our core functional areas in IT Operations, including asset management, problem management, and support office help. The Officer role alternates across these functional areas, providing new ideas and insights to each area while learning about the various requirements to make sure that our technological investments fulfill our ambitious purpose. It will require you to roll up your sleeves and get the job done in order to ensure overall excellence in service for your designated area.
The position, which entails mentoring and training Associates, reports to the Manager, IT Operations, who has broad control over the program.
Responsibilities
- Establish a single point of contact for all staff members for all hardware, software, and related peripherals.
- Use the reports and data analysis tools given to proactively troubleshoot, and add to the evolution and improvement of these tools.
- Implement IT resources and related peripherals, including new installs and retrofits of current hardware.
- Manage service desk tickets by systematically planning and prioritizing to reduce backlog and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Visit schools to learn about problems there and get input.
- Prioritize the quick notification or transmission of hardware and software configuration issues to the appropriate vendors.
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior staff employees in all of the aforementioned areas.
- Offer project teams technical support as needed and take on technical project roles yourself.
- Promote a culture of service excellence and ongoing improvement within the IT Department by demonstrating your commitment to it.
Qualification
- A degree from a reputable university with distinction in the relevant field
- Suitable employment experience in the IT industry
- Analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Working knowledge of a fast-paced setting
- Excellent technical understanding of IT gear, particularly laptops and Android-based mobile devices.
- Capability of troubleshooting hardware and software
- Working and training experience with a variety of IT topics and applications
Additional Requirements
- Ability to analyze data sets and be data driven—analytical ability. Advanced analytical skills, such as SQL, are advantageous.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
- Research abilities, particularly the capacity to recognize problems and suggest potential answers
